Alice Fairweather, a lapsed Catholic who lives in upstate New York with her two sons and philandering hubby (whom she wants to distraction), has just lost her dream job as a radio chat show hostess. When one of the family pet dogs abruptly becomes gravely unwell, Alice opts out of a family group spelunking vacation to nurse the pooch. Abelardo's search to canonize his aunt, as well as Alice's quest to save lots of her marriage, produces a miraculous history of love, damage, and faith.
