"If you wish to go fast, go exclusively. If you wish to go far, go collectively." - African proverbI am asked often, why have I done this podcast series? Why have I written Break To Yes: Unlocking the Possible In just a Culture of Collaboration? Why is cooperation so important?I'll let you know why. We are in need of it. I want it. Our future needs it. Business is obligated into silos and must quit to an open and agile system that better suits today's world and our distributed future. We should create distributed value. We should think critically. The costs of command and control command are receiving higher.During my 42-year career in business, I've held headings including director, leader, and chief functioning officer. I've seen many and repeated failures, sometimes with the expense of billions. These failures have an effect on organizations and their capital projects and operations. Whenever a company begins making mistakes, tries to power its plan on others, or is incompatible with its own stakeholders, the results are significant. People revolt and income are destroyed.Projects get postponed in regulatory and community review for prolonged lengths of your energy. Employees simply don't give their finest because they don't trust the systems they work in, specially when they have got little affect in the processes or programs in which they are involved. The price to organizations can be both internal and exterior disengagement, rejection by regulatory systems and governments, rejection by impacted areas, and harm to the environment. Increase that a variety of negative human effects including everything from depression, turmoil, suicide, marital break down, and career paralysis to the loss of intelligence and eyesight of the brightest people in your business, simply because they psychologically and spiritually check out when they come to work. All of this means lost productivity, lost opportunities to expand and prosper, and sidetracked leaders and staff who no longer feel able to do good work. Leaders and organizations, however, can gain a tactical advantage by preventing all of this energy and revenue-zapping negativity by just working collectively to create a culture of cooperation.
