"A WRITTEN REPORT to an Academy" (German: "Ein Bericht für eine Akademie") is a brief report by Franz Kafka, written and published in 1917. Inside the report, an ape called Red Peter, who have learned to behave like a real human, presents to an academy the story of how he effected his change. The story was initially published by Martin Buber in the German regular monthly Der Jude, along with another of Kafka's testimonies, "Jackals and Arabs" ("Schakale und Araber"). The story came out again in a 1919 collection entitled Ein Landarzt (A Country Doctor).
