Aunt Fran is missing. Those words echoed throughout the town, worrying relatives and buddies. So Lilly Millenovanovich, a mystery writer, makes a decision to help the authorities find her aunt. The Barton law enforcement officials have very few leads and Lilly is between books with time on her behalf hands. Her search becomes a harmful voyage in whips, cuffs, and little brownish boxes. Being tossed into awkward situations is familiar to Lilly Millenovanovich, like concealing in a stranger's bedroom wardrobe and sensing a naked man cuffed to the foundation. Though incidents sometimes transform dangerous Lilly remains her sleuthing and recruits Mona, her cousin and best ally, to assist in the search. Difficulties erupt, making their mission almost impossible. A string of store robberies, the different action of Aunt Fran's hubby, and death risks from the mob are simply a few. No matter where the search needs them, Lilly perceives one common element - Ron Kinecki, known by women in town as Slick Dick Ron. He's the owner of Repo Ron's Used Autos, but might be retailing more than cars. As luck would have it, not absolutely all eyes seeing Lilly intend harm. Her eccentric neighbor, Kooky Colonel Crockett, shows to be a helpful witness as he stands shield over a nearby. Aunt Sadie, the vivid matriarch of Lilly's family, who may tip the bottle once all too often, executes strong will and vivid viewpoints to keep Lilly over a straight course. And, of course, partner/detective Jake Kline. He offers assistance both in and from the bedroom. Even an anonymous emailer feeds Lilly hints. Before it's over, Lilly must face more trouble than she can take care of together. Still, with friends and family to provide their support, everything works out well in the long run. Certainly, it doesn't happen with out a murder or two, but when Kline and Lilly kiss in that final point in time, life appears to be back again to normal. At least until the next mystery strikes town.
