Adalind is thrilled when the man involves his senses and will be offering for her hands. Finally, what she's always dreamed of will be hers. But a fresh suitor pledges for Adalind's hands, a cunning and powerful knight who'll not be deterred by Maddoc. Maddoc and the knight face off in several fights, each yet another brutal than another, before knight finally troubles Maddoc to the ultimate struggle to the fatality for Adalind's hands. A brutal struggle ensues and Adalind, in her try to help Maddoc, eventually ends up nearly costing the man his life. As Maddoc lays wounded, presumably dying, the challenger knight abducts Adalind and flees. Adalind's grandfather is the fantastic David de Lohr, Earl of Canterbury. With Maddoc lingering near fatality, David gathers a few of his oldest and dearest friends to help save his granddaughter.
