A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Courtroom can be an 1889 novel by American humorist and copy writer Draw Twain. The booklet was originally titled A Yankee in King Arthur's Courtroom. Some early on editions are titled A Yankee at the Courtroom of King Arthur. In the booklet, a Yankee engineer from Connecticut called Hank Morgan gets a severe blow to the head and is somehow transported with time and space to Great britain during the reign of King Arthur. After some preliminary dilemma and his take by one of Arthur's knights, Hank realizes that he's actually in the past, and he uses his knowledge to make people believe he is a powerful magician. Twain wrote the booklet as a burlesque of Loving notions of chivalry after being motivated by a fantasy where he was a knight himself, seriously inconvenienced by the weight and troublesome nature of his shield.
