This edition is based on the original journal version of the book as Louis L'Amour first visualized it. Trail to Crazy Man was publicized in the July 1948 issue of the pulp journal, Western world. Later, he lengthened the storyplot for his book publishers and evolved the title to Crossfire Trail. A few of his fans consider the books as he composed them for the publications to be more robust than their subsequent expansions. L'Amour and other fans disagreed. Both camps concur that the original editions have all the advantages of his best writing and a taut, fast-moving rate that never stints on characterization. Special advantages about L'Amour's pulp career and pulp books.
