It has been almost two years because the Michaluk Computer virus outbreak started out, and Remy Angellette has helped her friends establish Woodside, a walled-in community of survivors in South Carolina. But underneath the veneer of convenience of the day-to-day lives, not all is as it seems. Dr. Derek Rivers, a former CDC scientist who was simply involved in the virus's evaluation, has come near to an end to the computer virus, and he's used it to get rid of Ethan Bennett - who promptly begins to show bizarre side-effects from the cure. Despite her pleas, Derek delays presenting the cure to Remy, that has found herself starting to dance a fine range between sanity and madness as the computer virus persists its relentless invasion on her brain. When Dominic Jackson smuggles Remy from the community over a supply run and brings back again a set of twins that they've rescued, hundreds after hundreds of afflicted follow them back to Woodside. Within time, the community is besieged by the afflicted, who attack the key gates and gradually begin to encircle the community. Desperate to receive the cure and everything about it out of Woodside before the infected enter, two users of the community load up the doctor's examples and records and slide out of Woodside to find a still-operational CDC center - however, not before Remy steals a dose of the cure and injects herself with it. As the community's gates collapse under the assault from the other aspect, one of the community's users manages to get in touch with the armed service, begging them for assistance before they all end up lifeless. But will they be able to survive before military shows up to help them - or will they finish up dead at the hands of the afflicted after nearly two years of survival?
