Doug Bradley's Backbone Chillers, Volume 2, reveals four classic tales from the masters of horror literature. It begins with Charles Dickens' friend and collaborator Wilkie Collins' eerie story of any man's dream of his own murder that comes too true, 'The Aspiration Female'. Second on the invoice is the grasp of American literature Edgar Allan Poe's basic story of doomed love, 'The Oval Portrait'. Making his first appearance in the Backbone Chillers series is Arthur Conan Doyle. Widely known for creating Sherlock Holmes, Conan Doyle was also the writer of lots of horror tales that introduced new ideas to the genre. Volume 2 includes his story 'The The Ring of Thoth', a tale of Egyptian mummies, immortality, and fatal rivalry spanning four millennia. What better way to rounded off this voulme than with the basic H.P. Lovecraft short story 'The Tomb'. The story works well as a friend piece to Volume 1's 'The Outsider', and concerns a mans desperate quest to discover a place at night tomb of his ancestors. As with Volume 1, Alistair Lock's evocative audio design, score and extra sound effects, used sparingly, add an atmospheric surface to the tales. This size was recorded at the audioworkshop London and constructed by Joseph Degnan. Produced by Alexander Finbow.
