Female Windermere's Enthusiast, is a four-act comedy by Oscar Wilde, first produced Feb 22, 1892 at the St James's Theater in London. The play was initially shared in 1893. Like a lot of Wilde's comedies, it bitingly satirizes the morals of Victorian population, particularly marriage. The storyline concerns Female Windermere, who discovers that her hubby may be having an affair with another woman. She confronts her hubby but he instead invites the other girl, Mrs. Erlynne, to his wife's birthday ball. Angered by her husband's unfaithfulness, Female Windermere leaves her hubby for another lover. Or will she? Is it really possible to trust delightful gossip? Are all men really bad? These and a great many other questions are lifted and if not answered, then organized for general population scrutiny in this biting satire of morals and proper behavior. The very best known type of the play amounts up the central theme: "We all have been in the gutter, however, many of us are looking at the celebrities."
