Soldier Girls uses the lives of three women on the paths to the armed forces. These women, who are very different in every way, become friends, and we watch their connection and also what goes on when they are segregated. We see their families, their addicts, their spouses, their children. We see them work difficult, deal with the attentions of men on base and in conflict zones, and struggle to stay connected to their families back home. We see a few of them drink too much, have illicit affairs, and respond to the fatalities of fellow soldiers.
