Author's take note of: I got a sergeant in the 173rd Airborne Brigade stationed in Okinawa in 1963. We'd orders from President Kennedy to close the slot at Cam Pha. The Brigade, for undiscovered reasons, did not go, and even though I survived, the complete unit was wiped out.
