Originally released in 1913, Roy provides us part biography of Tagore's early on life and part commentary of his poetry. Roy paints a picture of the poet's years as a child and the unusual upbringing that was likely in charge of him becoming the person he did. Roy points out the fantastic reverence that Tagore's contemporaries experienced for him, such as fellow Freemason, William B. Yeats, who Roy prices from. Roy mentions that the current, popular interest was leading to Tagore's work being translated across European countries. He also points out the irony of backlash the poet experienced experienced, from the traditional Indian literary establishment, who bothered his poetry would corrupt the country's youth. The author winds things up with a few examples from the poet. Through all of it, Roy's great admiration for Tagore is obvious.
