The Apology is Plato's version of the speech distributed by Socrates as he defended himself in 399 BC from the charges of "corrupting the young, and by not believing in the gods in whom the city believes, however in other daimonia that are novel". "Apology" here has its prior so this means of speaking in security of your cause or of one's beliefs or activities. The overall term apology, in context to books, defends a global from harm (opposite of satire-which disorders the planet). The text is written in the first person from Socrates' point of view, as though it were Socrates' genuine speech at the trial. During the speech, Socrates twice mentions Plato to be present. There is certainly, however, no real way of focusing on how carefully Socrates' words in the Apology match those of Socrates at the genuine trial, even if it was Plato's intent to be exact in this value.
