If we're not careful, we tend to look at disciple making as something we may choose to do or not do. Nothing beats this can be far removed from the truth in what God actually wants. The common believer feels that the reason why they are preserved is so they can go to heaven. Some do better by knowing that the reason they can be saved is so they can offer an everlasting life which means having a relationship with Jesus Christ.
