Griswold was the Exec Director of the Planned Parenthood Group of Connecticut. Both she and the Medical Director for the Group gave information, instructions, and other medical advice to married couples concerning contraceptive. Griswold and her colleague were convicted under a Connecticut law which criminalized the provision of guidance, and other treatment, to married persons for purposes of stopping conception.
