Harry S. Truman (May 8, 1884-Dec 26, 1972) was the thirty-third president of america (1945-53). As the ultimate running mate of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1944, Truman assumed the presidency on Apr 12, 1945, when Roosevelt died after a few months of declining health. Under Truman the Allies efficiently concluded World Warfare II; in the aftermath of the turmoil, tensions with the Soviet Union increased, marking the beginning of the Cold Warfare. Truman's administration made a decision to use atomic bombs on Japan in World Warfare II; it oversaw the Berlin Airlift in 1948 and the creation of the NATO in 1949 and determined america to the Korean Warfare in 1950.
