Life's disappointments can be considered a task to forgive. After my parents' fatalities, I had fashioned to learn to forgive to be able to move forwards in my own life. There is absolutely no Band-Aid for grief, loss, or criminal offense. We'll have questions about the difficulties we face in life, of course. The issue is devoid of a question. The problem isn't that our question remains unanswered. The issue is that we expect, or even demand, image resolution and find ourselves offended for this reason noticeable disconnect between everything we thought we were getting and what life gave us. Jesus said offenses would come because expectations are a given. Hurt, loss, disappointment and criminal offense are woven within the natural movement of marriage and commitment. As Jesus advised the disciples of John, "Happy is the person that I cannot offend." I don't think joy comes because Jesus determines never to offend us along with his ways. I believe the joy happens when we acknowledge Jesus' coaching and, rather than wanting to duck or deny the criminal offense, we forgive and release it. Forgiveness. It's what I like to call The Eleventh Commandment.
