A teenage girl enters a carriage in Central Recreation area and disembarks in Victorian Britain. Cursed by her sister, Brooke, Alexis Powell gets there in the Victorian age. There she satisfies Ezra, a guy recently murdered by an assassin his brother, Amos, chosen. Now he's a supernatural creature, and with an impression Ezra sees into Alexis' brain. Intrigued by her thoughts, Ezra offers Alexis his help only to be rebuffed for his kindness. Alexis operates away, but Ezra can't get rid of what he observed. He follows her through the roads of London, but, susceptible after the lack of his father, Amos' harassment, and Alexis' many rejections, Ezra eventually makes a decision to leave her by themselves. Alexis is unable to find work and it is threatened with starvation. She steals a tomato, and Ezra detects her facing the neighborhood magistrate and an furious mob. He battles and will pay for her freedom. Finally accepting the assistance Ezra offers, Alexis moves in to the manor he stocks with his brother. Romance blossoms, however the bond between Ezra and Amos is worse than Alexis' and Brooke's. While Ezra and Alexis seek a way to send her home, Amos searches for a way to kill them.
