Download Circle of the Wise: Interviews with California Philosophers AudioBook Free
In the Fall of 1991 students enrolled in Introduction to Idea classes at Mount San Antonio School conducted interviews with a few of the most dominant philosophers in California. Ten questions were asked of each philosopher, including inquiries about the existence of God, life after loss of life, and the interface between real human and artificial intelligence. The interviews ranged from personal one on one conversations, to telephone interviews, to mailed written reactions. There were at first over 50 interviews that were transcribed. From these the editors decided on between 20 and 30 of the very most representative and insightful reactions. Moreover, it had not been needed that each question be replied; thus, some philosophers thought we would respond to only a few of the posed questions. The overall effect is a remarkable study of the rarefied world of professional beliefs that provides a glimpse into how philosophers deal with questions which may have presented a perennial interest to humankind, regardless of time and place.
