Stewart, I am 43 years of age, and I worked for 12 years as a store manager for Burger King - a truly dead-end job. Just as with most jobs in the work market today, I used to put in plenty of time that did not translate into much money. I am aware that everyone has bad times at work; for me personally it had not been an intermittent dissatisfaction but an authentic mismatch. Working for long hours under frequent stress was taking a toll on my health, also to make concerns worse, I used to be generating $36,500 per calendar year, which was barely enough to feed myself, my partner, and my three children. Most of the time, I noticed like I used to be dangling from a cliff. My turning point came when I met a person who seemed to be doing perfectly regardless of the hard financial times. After a little chitchat, I then found out that he was a freight broker and that he was generating a reliable living while working simply a few hours. At that point I did not know anything about freight brokerage or that a profession like this even been around. I made a decision to do some research, and the more I learned, the more my interest grew. In a subject of weeks, I used to be completely connected. Before I knew it, I used to be taking time off work to start my training in freight brokerage. After my training, I made a decision to leave my job and used a job as a freight agent working under an established freight broker. My job included looking for new customers, taking requests, and matching shippers with service providers. In one year or so, I felt that I acquired enough experience and connections to start my own firm.
