"The Knights of Arthur" (1958) is a knowledge fiction report by Frederik Pohl about a strange being and its individual servants.
Excerpt:
I locked the entranceway of the accommodation. Arthur was peeping out of the suitcase at me. I said: "I'm back. I got your typewriter." He waved his eye at me.
I took out the tiny set of electricians' tools I transported, tipped the typewriter on its rear and started sorting out leads. It had been a poor and dreary job. I didn't have to get worried about which solenoid lead visited which strand - Arthur could type them out. But yet it took one hour, pretty close to, and I was getting hungry by enough time I got the last connection taped. I shifted the typewriter so that both Arthur and I could see it, rolled in a sheet of paper and connected the wire to Arthur's receptors.
Little or nothing happened.
"Oh," I said. "Excuse me, Arthur. I forgot to connect it in." I came across a wall socket. The typewriter started to hum and then it started to rattle and type.
