"The Blockade Joggers" is a story by Jules Verne. The American Civil Warfare plot centers around the exploits of your British vendor captain named Wayne Playfair who must break the Union blockade of Charleston harbor in South Carolina to trade items for organic cotton and, later in the reserve, to rescue Halliburtt, the abolitionist journalist daddy of a girl placed prisoner (the daddy, not the lady) by the Confederates. Verne's tale was inspired by reality as much boats were actually lost while performing as blockade runners in and around Charleston in the first 1860s.
