It's the summer months of 2002, and Winnie Winchester is a standard mother. She has the same highs, lows, and anxieties as any other mother of any 14-year-old girl. Naturally, since she's a witch - and her girl can talk to ghosts - those anxieties are amplified to a unnatural level. When camp counselor Donna Wilder goes absent, Winnie volunteers her services (and the ones of her sisters and persnickety aunt) therefore the Winchester witches may take over the prolonged weekend camp. Local police detective Terry Davenport is working the children' camp across the lake, and everyone is looking forward to a weekend of fun and frolicking. It's all going as designed until Bay Winchester will what she always will and sees a ghost. Such as a stack of dominoes, things start slipping; and normal years as a child hijinks turn into days and nights of torture for Bay and her cousins, Clove and Thistle. That's together with a visit from second-cousin Rosemary who has the personality (and heat) of any snake. The girl immediately aligns herself with Bay's sworn adversary, which means things will be bad before they get a whole lot worse. Bay is over a quest to help the ghost cross over, and it's up to her mother and family to be sure she doesn't get harmed along the way. Note: This is a short novella set in the Wicked Witches of the Midwest world. It's problem in time which means you can't pay attention to it out of order. You won't take the place of regular installments in the series. It's just a short snapshot so you can get to know some of the other individuals in Hemlock Cove.
