This audiobook is approximately the stuff you learn when you've did the trick for a supervisor you'd swear jumped out of an Dilbert cartoon; did the trick in a business whose performance careened up and down like a runaway clown car; experienced legal or ethical problems that needed the wisdom of Solomon to straighten out while they roiled your guts during the night; or sat on the stand across from some third-rate Perry Mason or tried to be one yourself. It's about what you learn when you've knocked yourself out to place measurable six-figure cost savings back on the business's bottom line; or when an employee pleads on her behalf job with tears in her sight as she lies through her teeth to that person; or when you've experienced down an employee who was spoiling for any chance he could easily get to sue your organization crippled; or maybe when you've handled the staff who told his supervisor he's going to shoot himself. Like most everyone else, whenever I've cleaned up some HR chaos - or made one of my very own - I would learn something i tucked in my own rear pocket, to grab as needed when something similar popped up. Some people call this their carrier of steps or wisdom. I've always thought of it as my little dark book. Practically anybody with 15 roughly years' experience may have written this audiobook, and surely some could have done better. I assume I just thought of it first. I cannot do much about that, but I hope that a look through my little dark publication of HR will spare you, dear listener, a few bloody noses in your HR job or shave a few levels off of your learning curve.
