Having offered sanctuary to the heart of the man who stole her brother's body, Vree heads north to Shkoder with two kigh attempting to co-exist in a single body. The useless walk in the mountains of Shkoder, kigh limited in rotting corpses, and Gyhard's earlier came back to haunt them. Hunted by the Bards and the Healer's family, Vree, Gyhard and Magda mind for the mountains to Sing Gyhard's earlier to rest. To create things worse, Vree's brother has yet to forgive her for saving Gyhard's life and is set to bring Gyhard - and for that reason Vree - back again to the Empire to pay the purchase price for treason.
