The idea of THE TRICK 6 was deceptively simple, yet 100 % pure pulp. An enigmatic adventurer known only as Ruler busts out of Loss of life Row to create an anti-crime group called THE TRICK 6. Others include The Key, The Doctor, Shakespeare, The Bishop, and Luga, as well as numerous underworld feces pigeons and hangers-on. Each is wanted. So they operate outside the law. The task of the wildly imaginative Robert J. Hogan, who pitted his World Battle I traveling ace, G-8, against zombies, Martians, defrosted Viking warriors, and other bizarre foes, THE TRICK 6 battled sinister supervillains, a Mayan Bat-Man, a huge gold alligator and other outrageous menaces. Few pulp series extended reality as performed this four-issue Popular Magazines name from 1934-35. There were no limitations. That's what made it a good read. In the event that you wanted to, you may call THE TRICK 6 "Doc Savage lite". The series implemented a similar design template - a group of adventurers pitting themselves against overpowering threats. The huge difference was that the first choice, Ruler, was no superman. Like Hogan's G-8, he was an average American he-man, not a fearless wonder-worker. Ruler could feel dread, and make flaws. He had not been perfect, which means average audience could identify with him, to see himself in King's shoes. The third Secret 6 entry shows every indication of having been inspired by the famous Doc Savage book, The Monsters. The idea is virtually indistinguishable - giant animals are terrorizing the rural people. Regulators are helpless. Only the resourceful Technique 6 team is up to the challenge. No doubt the inspiration for both of these pulp classics dates back to the 1933 film, Ruler Kong. In "The Monster Murders", we encounter ferocious packs of gigantic puppies, 30-feet giants, and other towering nightmare threats to life and liberty. "The Monster Murders" is read by Michael C. Gwynne.
