Notes from the Underground can be an 1864 existentialist novella compiled by the Russian creator, Fyodor Dostoyevsky. The presenter, an unfamiliar yet common kind of man, creates in first person about his views on European beliefs, as well as his stark research of his own life. The work is written as the ramblings of this retired government staff who appears to have a very pessimistic yet genuine opinion on his own life, as well as the planet as seen through his eye. Although purely imaginary, Dostoyevsky records that he created this personality because he has learned that we now have several real people who discuss this persona and view of world. Composed mainly of ramblings and dark humor, this short listen is divided into two parts. In the first section, the presenter presents himself as a spiteful man who may not really be spiteful. He stocks his views on several themes including doctors, later years, and conflicting emotions. His main focus is his invasion on the Traditional western philosophies of Chernyshevsky's views. In the second section, the presenter talks about and evaluates certain occasions in his life. Due to its unique composition and unusual directness, Dostoyevsky's novella produces a fascinating listen that is still enjoyed today.
