In entering upon this course of instruction, each one of you should, as far as possible, lay aside, for the time being, all previous theories and beliefs. By so doing you will be saved the difficulty of trying, all the way through the course, to place "new wine into old wineskins." (Lk. 5:37) When there is anything, even as we proceed, which you don't realize or trust, just let it lie passively in your thoughts until you have paid attention to the entire publication, for many claims that would at first arouse antagonism and dialogue will be clear and easily accepted a little farther on. Following the course is completed, if you want to go back to your old beliefs and ways of living, you are in perfect liberty to do so. But, for the time being, be willing to be as a little child; for, said the expert, in spiritual things, "Except ye...become as little children, ye shall in no smart enter the kingdom of heaven." (Mt. 18:3) If at times there appears to be repetition, please understand that they are lessons, not lectures. "Finally...be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might." (Eph. 6:10) "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are real, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good statement; if there be any virtue, in case there be any praise, think on these things." (Phil. 4:8)
