Inequality is a selection. The United States charges itself as the land of opportunity, a location where anyone can perform success and a better life through hard work and determination. But the facts tell another story - the US today lags behind almost every other developed countries in steps of inequality and financial mobility. For many years, income have stagnated in most of staff while economic increases have disproportionately gone to the most notable 1 percent. Education, casing, and healthcare - essential substances for specific success - are growing ever more expensive. Deeply rooted structural discrimination goes on to carry down women and folks of color, and much more than one-fifth of all American children now stay in poverty. These trends are on track to become even worse in the future. Some economists declare that today's bleak conditions are inescapable effects of market results, globalization, and technical progress. If we want greater equality, they argue, we have to sacrifice growth. This is simply not true. American inequality is the consequence of misguided structural rules that truly constrict economic growth. We have stripped away worker protections and family support systems, created a duty system that rewards short-term increases over long-term investment, offered a de facto general public back-up to too-big-to-fail finance institutions, and chosen economic and fiscal guidelines that promote prosperity over full job.
