In 1950, Fairfax Region, Virginia, was 90 percent white, 10 % DARK-COLORED, with a bit more than 100 households who had been "other". The African American ratio of the population is about the same, but the Anglo white population is significantly less than 50 percent, and there are families of Asian, African, Midsection Eastern, and Latin American source living all over the county. A Region of Nations follows the lives of a few immigrants to Fairfax Region over recent generations as they steadily "Americanize". Hailing from Korea, Bolivia, and Libya, these households have reviews that illustrate common immigrant styles: friction between minority groups, financial competition and entrepreneurship, and racial and ethnical stereotyping. It has been half a century because the 1965 Immigration and Nationality Action changed the surroundings of America, no book has evaluated the impact or importance of this rules as that one does, with its brilliant combo of personal reviews and larger demographic and political issues.
