This is the fourth version of the same epilepsy memoir at first published in 2014 with some obvious additions. This is a genuine epilepsy saga from age 11 to age 53. Don Miller has already established epilepsy for 42 years now. Mr. Miller was discouraged by the lack of epilepsy-oriented books at the start of the book's conception in 2005. There were no books about epilepsy at the library, and books about epilepsy were few in number back in 2005. The ones that were written were by doctors and nurses; there was nothing at all for the lay-person that could help treat that error.Epilepsy: The Lightning Storm was one man's solution to that problem, an motor vehicle format: the human, the automobile; the engine, the brain. We all have been autos, and E-people only need faulty electric powered systems. Milepost one - a detour from the "normal life". Gentlemen, line up your autos, start your engines, green flag, gun your engines, go, go go!Genesis of the epilepsy, the beginning of the electric highway and the fluctuations of epilepsy, depressive disorder, and paranoid schizophrenia: Noble Jameson, my first neurologist, said, "I've seen this many times before. When adolescence ends, your seizures will stop." My seizures will stop when adolescence ends; that was seven or eight years; seven years looked an eternity, eight years looked a long time. So started out the mounting aggravation and exasperation. That statement has echoed in my own mind throughout a 40-year prolonged adolescence. The mind is similar to a car's engine - it control buttons what we do and where we go, plus some folks have faulty electric powered systems. In adolescence, testosterone shifted my brain into overdrive and flicked the seizure change that controlled the firing of my spark plugs to the off position - they have remained there for almost four decades. By the end of my sixth-grade yr through the hot summer season of 1974, my engine overheated and I experienced two tonic-clonic - known at that time as grand mal - seizures. At that time, I experienced ictal (seizural) amnesia. So started out a 40-year-journey on epilepsy's electric highway.
