In the 3rd publication in "what will likely be a long and successful series" (San Francisco Journal), Japanese antiques dealer and PI Jim Brodie goes up up against the CIA, the FBI, the Team of Homeland Security - and a killer operating on both sides of the Pacific. In recognition of his role in resolving the Japantown murders in SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA, antiques dealer and sometime-PI Jim Brodie has just been induced as the liaison for the mayor's new Pacific Rim A friendly relationship Program. Brodie in turn recruits his good friend, the renowned Japanese designer Ken Nobuki, and, following a promising meeting with city officers and a picture-perfect photo op, Brodie and Nobuki leave city hall for a hanging around limo. But when they leave the building, a sniper disorders them from the roof structure of the Asian Skill Museum. Quick pondering allows Brodie to escape, but Nobuki eventually ends up hospitalized and in a coma. Brodie soon realizes that with the suspicious and untimely loss of life of Nobuki's oldest son a week previously in Napa Valley, someone may be concentrating on his friend's family - and eradicating them off one at a time. Suspects are practically too numerous to mention - and could be in the United States or anywhere across the Pacific Rim. The search for answers takes Brodie from his favorite SAN FRANCISCO BAY AREA to Washington, DC, in a confrontation with the DHS, the CIA, and the FBI; then on to Tokyo, Kyoto, and beyond, in search of what his Japanese options simply tell him is a famous killer in both senses of the term - said to be more rumor than real but deadlier than anything else they've ever encountered if the whispers are true.
