Harriet, the writer of her school newspaper's pseudonymous college student advice column "Dear Emma", is fantastic at telling others what to do, dispensing knowledge for the lovelorn and lonesome on her behalf Midwestern campus. Somehow, though, she can't take her own advice, especially after Keith, the man she's going out with, blows her off completely. When Harriet discovers that Keith has started out seeing the beautiful and intimidating Remy, she needs to hate her.
