As a writer, I think You will find a fairly cool job. There can't be many occupations what your location is permitted to spend countless hours in private contemplation, just imagining. Clearing my brain (which often involves taking a walk or taking a cycle ride along the beach) is an essential facet of my creative process (or at least that is what I tell my family and people I help). When my head drifts (and it doesn't take much to start this process), it takes me down a complete new career avenue, one that I spent the majority of my teenage years (who am I kidding, the majority of the previous four generations) thinking of. In my own head, I'm a rock star. There are many similarities between your roles of writer and rock legend (and not all of them are positive):
- They are both creative careers.
- They can both lead to popularity and bundle of money (although the majority of us will be blessed if our creative output pays the rent).
- Some freelance writers might even lead a little of a rock and roll lifestyle (I now limit my creative stimulants to several really (really) strong mugs of coffee during the day).
- Success in both occupations can similarly be related to luck as much as it can be to talent (although there is no substitute for hard work).
- You can wear what you would like to work (although I'm perhaps a little too old for a spandex jumpsuit).
- There are plenty of "industry-type" people who'll try and make the most you.
- Most people who aspire to become either freelance writers or rock superstars fail.
