I am not one of these people that has been cursed using what in sales is named "manageritis." This identifies a salesperson who excels at sales and, because of that success, wants to become manager, whereby this person, instead of making his income from commissions on sales, makes a percentage of the business enterprise written for managing other salespeople and/or their output. Oh, I have seen this manageritis thing play out successfully, but I have also seen it become the textbook exemplory case of the Peter Rule. Being the control freak i am, I prefer the thrill of the hunt. Instead of staying back again at camp and reaping a portion of the spoils of others' efforts, I'd alternatively earn my living from the commissions created by my efforts and prowess. And, yes, I have made some sales professionals a wholesome living from their percentages on the business enterprise I have written when those sales professionals did nothing to earn it, but such is life. That's just part of the game. The main point is that I have been in sales. I had been on the telephone recently with a challenging potential client named Dan. It had been apparent Dan had encountered many people who had tried to market him the exact thing I had been pitching. It had been also clear i had made an impression on Dan because I had fashioned unsuccessfully pitched him a year ago, yet he returned touching me because his less-expensive deal was terminating and he was giving me another shot at his business.
