It had been a battle that saw many firsts. The long set of Civil Battle firsts include America's first income tax, the first fight between ironclad ships, the first intensive use of black military and sailors in US service, the first use of quinine to take care of typhoid fever, America's first military services draft, and many more. There were improvements in treatment, military methods, the chaplain service, and other areas. During the period of the Civil Battle, weapons ranged from outdated flintlocks to state-of-the-art repeaters. During the Civil Battle, women required on new assignments, including working farms and plantations and spying; some disguised themselves as men and fought in fight. Every one of the nation's ethnic categories participated in the battle, including Irish, Germans, American Indians, Jews, Chinese, Hispanics, etc. Other Labels for the Civil Battle Northerners have also called the Civil Battle the Battle to Maintain the Union, the Battle of the Rebellion (Battle of the Southern Rebellion), and the Battle to Make Men Free. Southerners may make reference to it as the Battle Between the Says or the Battle of Northern Hostility. In the decades following the conflict, those who didn't wish to upset adherents of either aspect simply called it The Late Unpleasantness. It is also known as Mr. Lincoln's Battle and, less commonly, as Mr. Davis' Battle. Troop Durability and Casualties Between Apr 1861 and Apr 1865, an estimated 1.5 million soldiers joined the battle privately of the Union, and approximately 1.2 million proceeded to go into Confederate service. Around total of 600,000 were killed doing his thing or died of disease. More than twice that number were wounded, but survived at least long enough to muster out. Casualties of the Civil Battle Casualties cannot be calculated exactly, due to missing files (especially on the Southern aspect) and the shortcoming to determine exactly how many combatants died from wounds, medication addiction, or other war-related triggers after giving the service.
